Product Review: Magna-Tiles Magnetic Building Set

My son Logan was recently gifted a Magna-Tiles magnetic building blocks set, Stardust version. It was from my friend Lydia and her son, being a longtime favorite toy of theirs.

It’s always nice to receive any gifts from loved ones. It’s even better when that present becomes a quick favorite in the household!

I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, having no experience with the magnetic blocks. They looked interesting, but I hadn’t realize the reach of the Magna-Tiles until Logan had started playing with them. Since he is so young, interest in toys and activities don’t last long. With these, he played with them for close to an hour, which is unheard of on one toy.

We dumped the contents onto his play table and let him take the lead. The blocks connect with one another seamlessly, since they are attracted by the magnets. Because of this they don’t knock down easily, but are still very easy to piece together and form creative constructions.

This specific set has mirrors on the tiles with glitter accents. It was a neat additional element that other versions of these blocks don’t have. They are similar to Legos in that respect, there are so many kinds you can get! The Magna-Tiles are the original brand of magnetic blocks and were created by a math teacher to find a better way to teach geometric principles. The toy blocks have since evolved to expand on STEM philosophies. They focus on math concepts like building patterns and using simple addition structure. It also teaches early science topics like gravity and magnetic principles. A pretty great toy that encompasses learning, encourages creativity and is FUN!

Lydia has done the heavy research lifting for us and has gone through several other types of magnetic blocks. Magna-Tiles are hands down the best brand because other brands break easily or don’t have as strong as a magnetic connection.

We’ve started taking these blocks on the go with us to keep Logan occupied when needed. They fit so easily in his backpack and aren’t hard to lose since they stick together!

My 8 year old niece also enjoyed playing with these tiles with Logan, when he first got them. She’s a great builder and loves STEM concepts, so naturally she gravitated towards the Magna Tiles. She’s now getting her own sets too! The Magna Tiles are loved by many different age ranges.

Introduce this toy to your child or gift to dear friend’s kids. It is an amazing activity that they will truly enjoy.

Lydia has a great eye for creativity and design. She runs her own home decor design and marketing business at The White Space. Please check out her gorgeous finds and learn more about what she has going on at:
